Welcome!

Welcome to our newly launched website! Through this platform, we will keep you updated about the progress of our LEGIT research project.

We’re currently diving into our first case study: the computer models used to assess flood risk in the Netherlands. These interconnected models are part of the BOI – the suite of evaluation and design instruments (Beoordelings- en Ontwerp Instrumentarium in Dutch) that underpins Dutch national flood-risk analysis.

To understand how these models became established as formal policy-advisors, we’re speaking with a wide range of people: decision-makers, staff at water authorities and research institutes, model developers, end-users, and people living with the outcomes of these models. We’re also examining the models themselves: their structure, assumptions, and documentation. We’re still in the data-collection phase, so stay tuned for the insights to come.

Welcome to the webpage of the LEGIT project. We investigate how computer models establish legitimacy to serve as policy-advisors.
